The IRIS stool bench was used in an adapted version for the renewal of the light rail lines in Bielefeld. The landscape architecture firm scape was responsible for planning the extension of the Bielefeld light rail system and deliberately opted for a discreet and open design. The existing stops were made barrier-free and additional stops were added to the light rail lines.
The seat depth of the IRIS stool bench was reduced for placement in the glazed waiting halls of the light rail, so that the bench fits perfectly into the limited urban space. The design language of the bench is echoed in the steel profiles of the stop, which taper downwards and outwards, creating a dynamic overall appearance.
