The Heinrich-Hertz-Berufskolleg in Düsseldorf is a technical vocational college specializing in chemistry, electrical engineering and information technology and a vocational grammar school. The existing school complex was extended with a new building that connects the existing buildings with the neighboring Franz-Jürgens-Kolleg. As part of this construction project, the open spaces were also redesigned by the landscape architects at Förder Landschaftsarchitekten, creating a coherent school campus with a uniform design.

An oversized asphalt graphic of Hertz's dipole (electrical waves for signal transmission) adorns the entire school campus as a connecting element of the sub-areas in reference to the namesake of the vocational college, Heinrich Hertz. The outdoor furniture was created in close collaboration with the planners and its dynamic form blends in perfectly with the design concept and its surroundings.

The new products - consisting of curved benches, a seating area with a table and a spacious seating stand - create a modern learning environment with a variety of uses. In some places, for example, the borders of the flowerbeds expand into seating areas under shady trees. Elsewhere, benches and seating platforms invite people to relax and socialize. At the same time, new places of learning are also being created, as individual areas of the schoolyard can be used as green classrooms.
