As part of the 2019 State Garden Show, the landscape architecture firm Hager from Berlin developed a comprehensive concept for the redesign of the station area in Wittstock/Dosse, which builds on the existing, historically evolved qualities of the site and creates a spacious station forecourt with representative charisma. The surrounding buildings, many of which are listed, were linked to the open spaces by means of a modern, open space design. The amorphous, sculptural KOFI seating platforms, which were created in close consultation with the planners and characterize the newly designed station area in varying forms, form the center of the square.

HPL (high-pressure laminate) with an anti-slip honeycomb structure was used as the support for the seating objects. The robust basic construction made of powder-coated stainless steel ensures stability and a clear design language. In combination with the matching bicycle racks, the floor coverings and the tree and flower bed borders, a dynamic space is created that skillfully combines past and present and gives the area a uniform identity. The newly designed station forecourt will thus become a central place with a high quality of stay, inviting customers and visitors to the adjacent surgeries and administrative buildings as well as rail passengers to linger, relax and communicate.
